Montgomery Charles is a boutique style wealth management company who specialise in giving expert advice to Dentists, Business Owners and Private Clients. We seek a dedicated, part time Finance Assistant to join a friendly, busy and vibrant team. We are looking for a likeminded team player eager to contribute new ideas and a desire to make a difference.


The successful candidate will work alongside our Financial Controller assisting with all bookkeeping duties. The company currently uses Quickbooks accounting software and Prestwood Professional for our back office system. The candidate should be confident in their ability to be flexible and adaptable.

We are a small company with big ambitions, so the team are encouraged to develop ongoing ‘value adding’ projects along side their everyday responsibilities. These projects intend to continually improve the way we do business. This adds an element of diversity to the average day and also helps the team feel a sense of ownership within the company.

On a day to day basis the role will entail the following:

Purchase Ledger

  • Posting invoices on Quickbooks and organising sign off
  • Posting the payments to suppliers on Quickbooks
  • Sending remittances

Sales Ledger

  • Invoicing in Prestwood & Quickbooks
  • Posting and reconciling receipts
  • Monitoring debtor balances and producing statements

Petty Cash

  • VAT Calculations & reconciliation
  • Posting and reconcile entries in Quickbooks


  • Posting bank transactions
  • Reconciliations of fees account
  • Reconciliation of standing orders account

Expenses and mileage

  • Employee expenses checks/Mileage records
  • Posting expenses
  • Calculation of expenses and mileage for CEO


  • Holiday records upkeep & reports to staff
  • Sickness log & SSP recording


  • Ad-hoc marketing related tasks including updating the website, social media and providing general marketing support
  • No previous experience required. All training provided.

Skills & Experience Required

Part AAT qualified or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in bookkeeping required and knowledge of Quickbooks preferred but not essential as training will be provided. Candidates must have excellent IT skills in MS Word & Excel and the ability to work under pressure to deadlines. It is necessary for the candidate to have an excellent telephone manner and customer service skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate high inter-personnel and organisation attributes and be ready to support the rapid growth of this dynamic financial planning practice.

Candidates should be internet and computer savvy for the marketing elements of the role with good knowledge of different social media platforms.
